Our Story

Wardington House

Wardington House, founded in 1965, is a family-owned nursing home with an outstanding reputation for caring for people with dementia, particularly those with Alzheimer’s disease, without the use of routine tranquillising medication.

Wardington House offers a relaxed, stress-free comfortable environment, in which residents can retain their freedom of choice and individuality. Residents can choose how they spend their day whether socialising in the spacious sitting rooms or spending time in the gardens.

The way of life at Wardington House and the absence of tranquillising medication have produced surprising improvements in the health, happiness and wellbeing of many who have come here.

Care

Residents are cared for by our team of dedicated and experienced nurses and nursing assistants who are led by our Matron.

Staff have been chosen for their nursing and caring skills. Our staff are thoughtful, calm, kind and respectful of a resident’s individuality and personal choices. Their  expertise and experience enables the home to care for people with dementia and the physical frailties of old age; no matter what the future may hold.

Personalised admissions and staffing

Matron arranges to meet prospective residents wherever they are living. This helps the home’s staff to provide the best care and support when a resident is welcomed into their new home.

Wardington House has a high staff to resident ratio. It employs around one hundred people to look after around 45 residents. Staff stay for an average of over ten years. The home has its own training centre and no agency staff are used.
